Unboxing Fairylootbox: Save the kingdom

Hey you all! If you follow my blog you no doubt noticed that I haven’t shared an unboxing in quite some time (I think the last one was a year ago!). I do love these bookboxes, but they are rather expensive so I don’t buy them lightly. The theme of Fairyloot’s May box, however, sounded so awesome that I had to order it haha. If you don’t want to know what was in this box, then don’t read any further!!!

I couldn’t resist taking a photograph in my backyard as all the roses are in bloom now ❤

I absolutely looooove the Fairyloot art <3<3<3 I still need to find some cool frames so I can display all the art prints and spoiler cards that I own.

But let’s get on with revealing what was in this box!

The first thing that caught my attention was a black pot.

20180525_111354[1] I had no clue what Dalbreck was, but the spoilercard says this item was inspired by one of the kingdoms from Mary E Pearson’s The Remnant Chronicles. I haven’t read this series yet (however it sounds very good so I put it on my wishlist) but this lipscrub smells divine!!! It smells like melons and the sugar is really fine grained, so, the scrub probably won’t damage the soft skin of your lips (good job Geeky Clean!). I know I’m going to be using this scrub as I love tropical fruits ❤

Underneath this item I found an intriguing small, white box.

20180525_111137[1] Inside was a beautiful bathbomb castle which smells like berries ❤ This item, along with a gorgeous artprint and a sticker, was inspired by the book which inspired this box. Personally, I don’t have a bath, but I love soaking my feet in the summer, so, I can use this bathbomb for that (hello multiple footbaths!). The bath bomb is created by Little Hearts Gifts and the art card by Emily Haynes.

The next item I found is probably my favourite item in this box (aside from the book of course 😉 )

I totally fell in love with the quote and artwork on this coaster!!! It was designed by Evie Bookish, so, I’m going to check out if she made more fandom stuff because this is awesome ❤ The book that inspired this coaster is another one of those series I haven’t read yet (The Winner’s trilogy by Marie Rutkoski) but I put this one on my wishlist too (yeah, it keeps growing haha)

The next thing I found were page flags.

These page flags were inspired by Sarah J Maas’s Throne of Glass series (haven’t read that one either haha) and created by Fictiontea Designs. I own several of these page markers now and always forget to use them because I get totally soaked up in the books I’m reading, but I nevertheless like this item because I think these page flags are beautiful and I love the text on them. So, if I do remember to flag pages in the future I will probably use these flags 😉

There were also several small items in this box that weren’t fandom related, but were theme related 🙂

You guys and girls probably know I’m a tea-lover by now, so, I love the fact that Fairyloot sometimes includes tea in their boxes! This time they included an English breakfast tea from The Tea Leaf Co. Sadly, I’m not really fond of breakfast tea haha, I love fruit and herbal teas more, but I will try this one. There was also a tarot card with a sneak peek from one of the exclusive covers for Stephanie Garber’s Legendary and two bookmarks (one with the theme art on it, and one for Renee Ahdieh’s Smoke in the Sun).

The last item, is also the biggest.

The booksleeve everyone knew was going to be included!!! I love that there is a quote from An Ember in the Ashes on this item ❤ (I loved this book!!!) The sleeve is truly gorgeous <3<3<3 This item was made by Reverie & Ink, another one of those companies I didn’t know, but will be checking out.

And those were all the items in this box 🙂 I have to say that I’m really happy with this box. I love the designs of all the items and all the artwork. I was a bit sad that there was no candle in this one, as I love bookish candles, but there were enough other fun things to compensate 😉

And now, the ultimate question: which book was in this box?

Onyx & Ivory by Mindee Arnett!!! This was the first time I guessed the book in a box wrong, but I really don’t care that the book I thought was in this wasn’t in here because the description of this book sounds AMAZING!!!

They call her Traitor Kate. It’s a title Kate Brighton inherited from her father after he tried to assassinate the high king years ago. Now Kate lives as an outcast, clinging to the fringes of society as a member of the Relay, the imperial courier service. Only those most skilled in riding and bow hunting ride for the Relay; and only the fastest survive, for when dark falls, the nightdrakes—deadly flightless dragons—come out to hunt. Fortunately, Kate has a secret edge: she is a wilder, born with magic that allows her to influence the minds of animals. But it’s this magic that she needs to keep hidden, as being a wilder is forbidden, punishable by death or exile. And it’s this magic that leads her to a caravan massacred by nightdrakes in broad daylight—the only survivor her childhood friend, her first love, the boy she swore to forget, the boy who broke her heart.

The high king’s second son, Corwin Tormane, never asked to lead. Even as he waits for the uror—the once-in-a-generation ritual to decide which of the king’s children will succeed him—he knows it’s always been his brother who will assume the throne. And that’s fine by him. He’d rather spend his days away from the palace, away from the sight of his father, broken with sickness from the attempt on his life. But the peacekeeping tour Corwin is on has given him too much time to reflect upon the night he saved his father’s life—the night he condemned the would-be killer to death and lost the girl he loved. Which is why he takes it on himself to investigate rumors of unrest in one of the remote city-states, only for his caravan to be attacked—and for him to be saved by Kate.

With their paths once more entangled, Kate and Corwin have to put the past behind them. The threat of drakes who attack in the daylight is only the beginning of a darker menace stirring in the kingdom—one whose origins have dire implications for Kate’s father’s attack upon the king and will thrust them into the middle of a brewing civil war in the kingdom of Rime.

The first thing that came to mind when I read this description was Kristen Britain’s Green Rider series which I adore! If this book is anything like that I’m happy as a clam. But even if it’s completely different I’m pretty sure I will enjoy reading this as it contains a lot of things I love in fantasy stories: horses, dragons (or drakes, or wyverns), magic and romance ❤ I’m really looking forward to reading this one 🙂

Happy reading you all!
